The Edinburgh Princes Street Gardens, in the heart of Edinburgh city centre, are close to Edinburgh Waverley Station, between the Old Town and New Town areas of Edinburgh. This relaxing green oasis is one the most popular parks / gardens in Edinburgh, for both locals and visitors to Edinburgh city. Attractions at Edinburgh's Princes Street Gardens include trees, shrubs, flowers, pathways, picnic areas and a number of seats. Princes Street Gardens dates back to the early 19th century and also provide a convenient and scenic shortcut to Edinburgh Castle.

Situated on the outskirts of Edinburgh, in the small Edinburgh town of Balerno, the Malleny Gardens are three acres of beautifully landscaped gardens. These attractive walled gardens are within easy reach of Edinburgh city centre and attractions include ancient trees, herbaceous borders, rose gardens, a grand 17th-century house and Edinburgh's Malleny Gardens are also home to the National Bonsai Collection in Scotland. Edinburgh's Malleny Gardens are owned by the National Trust.

The Edinburgh Royal Botanic Gardens can be found in the New Town area of Edinburgh and are one of the most important gardens in the Edinburgh area. With many historic features and plants, attractions at the Edinburgh Royal Botanic Garden include a large greenhouse with many tropical plants, the tallest palm trees in the whole of the United Kingdom, an azalea area, an impressive alpine collection and rock garden, ponds, streams and many important botanical collections in Edinburgh. The Edinburgh Royal Botanic Garden covers around 77 acres / 31 hectares and was founded in the 17th century.

Mavis Hall Park is located in East Lothian, on the outskirts of Edinburgh. This popular park has many attractions for tourists and visitors to the Edinburgh area, including a wide range of outdoor activities, such as mountain biking, quad biking, off-road driving, clay pigeon shooting, fishing, falconry, golf, archery and much more besides. There are a number of special events held throughout the year at Mavis Hall Park.

Edinburgh's Dunbar's Close Gardens is a secret little park on the north side of Canongate, in central Edinburgh. Laid out in the style of a 17th-century garden, Edinburgh's Dunbar's Close Gardens have ornamental flower beds, manicured hedges and provides the perfect refuge from busy city life in Edinburgh. There is also an excellent view of the old Edinburgh Royal High School from Dunbar's Close Gardens.
